Beneath The Tide and Within The Tide was commissioned by The Crescent Art Gallery for a solo show Landmarks in Scarborough. The work was created to evoke and highlight the dynamics and beauty of the North Yorkshire coastline. Sections of tidal patterns were cast directly in plaster from patterns in the sand formed by the ebbing tide.

These were later cast in translucent coloured resins and lit using fluorescent lights, creating abstract sculptural forms that reflect the essence of the natural environment. Light and colour imitate ripples of sunlight within the water, bringing the living landscape into the gallery space. Within the Tide is a development of beneath the Tide but centering on the deal of issues of waste thrown away ending up on beaches around the coast. This is more centered within the middle of the work.
